Microfinance Research
Today in class we are doing research on 4 topics. These topic are; microloans and the Nobel Prize, how Kiva is rated as an institution (by Charity Navigator and/or other charity watchdog groups), who are America's greatest philanthropists, and to whom do they give, to whom you would want to make a Kiva loan, and why. Muhammad Yunus won the Noble Peace Prize in 2006 for creating the Grameen banking that used microfinance and microcredit. 96.69 is the overall score that was rated by the institution. The top three philanthropists are Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Li Ka-shing. Warren Buffett has given away a whopping $30.9 Billion, Bill Gates has given away $29.5 Billion, Li Ka-shing has given away 10.7 $billion. Combined they have given to help healthcare, education, poverty, access to information technology, sanitation, and AIDS-prevention. I would want to make a Kiva loan to the Mankarga V11 N09 Group.
